Sustainable and CO2 zero buildings can no longer being ignored in the current industry. To realise these kind of developments new and innovative concepts are being applied. The efficiency and performance of such systems are essential to the overall performance. With the use of CFD simulations we make the performance visible for multiple scenarios. With knowledge gained we can further optimize the concept and support its performance.
For example this is being done for natural ventilated atria to assess under which external conditions the indoor climate can be guaranteed. It is essential to successfully design such an atrium to understand the affect of wind and solar radiation.
With our dedicated HPC cluster which we use to do these simulations this advanced technique can very well being used as a design tool in each stage of the project. It enables us to rapidly evaluate different alternatives and quantify the effect on the performance. The results are always presented such that they are easy to evaluate by all involved parties.
